Live Music Rocks at Weddings

As a busy musician, I often find myself playing at weddings. They’re always wonderful occasions. After all, everyone’s gathered together to have a good time and to celebrate two people’s love for one another. Live music gets straight to the heart of those emotions like nothing else can.

Music’s played a huge part in every wedding I’ve performed at, whether as a solo artist singing at the service, entertaining as a duo at the reception, or rocking the night away in a band at the evening celebrations. And if you’re planning to get married, then booking the right wedding musicians or wedding singers is a vital part of the process.

In my experience, there are three key factors that will help you get the very best from your wedding musicians. They make my life easier and I’m sharing them here so that they can make your life easier too!

1 Book the Right Wedding Musicians

When it comes to getting the live music right, it’s important to make sure that you book wedding musicians who will complement and enhance the mood you’re trying to create. You could book a fantastic country and western band but if that style doesn’t suit your guests or capture the atmosphere you’re after, things will fall flat.

Take your time to think about the mood of your special day and talk to an agency, taking their advice on the right kind of music for you.

It might be that the best option is to hire a couple of different groups of wedding musicians. Maybe a classical quartet is ideal for the wedding ceremony, and possibly hire a jazz band for the evening. Equally, some groups are flexible enough to manage all the different elements of your big day.

2 Choose a Venue That Gives You What You Need

Your venue and the wedding musicians you book are going to need to work together, so make sure that if you’re booking the venue after you’ve booked the musicians, you take their needs into account.

It’s worth checking access, dressing room facilities, space to set up, and power supplies. If your wedding musicians are bringing lots of kit with them, and you’ve booked a room with a small performance area, you won’t get the full effect.

Equally, if your venue is already booked, chat with the agency about the venue and make sure the acts you are interested in are suitable for your space.

3 Keep Talking

It’s important to keep the lines of communication open with your wedding musicians. Once you’ve booked them, don’t be afraid to keep them updated with any details that are pertinent to your big day.

Timings, venues, and ideas change frequently, but as long as you keep your wedding musicians in the loop, they’ll be pleased to adapt where and when they perform, as long as they know in good time.
